Taking the Time or Giving the Time?
So we finally published the Summer Newsletter today, August 1st. Typically, we have this out in early to mid July however, sometimes things just get held up. As I went through the newsletter, reading the editors notes, I could feel the pressure building to just get the thing out there to the mailing list... Isn't that the way life is? We feel the anxiousness to get things moving, to get where we are headed or to accomplish the 'next best thing'... it is, after all, a part of who we are in the world today. But that does not make it right...or in some cases wrong.
Scripture tells us to flee from sin. In Psalms, it says "I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments", so to hurry is not always something bad. But then, on the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the type of hurrying that is self centered - often leading to severe consequences. In Proverbs we read about feet that are in haste to do wrong, perhaps this is a reflection on our selfish desires. In Timothy, it says "Do not be in a hurry in the laying on of hands" - how does this affect us?
In all things understanding is necessary. Gaining Godly understanding takes time or rather it takes us giving the time to follow the scriptures, so that we understand and recognize all things for what they truly are. After all, the scriptures states that all things are permissible but not beneficial. Today, take time to avoid the hurry in your life. Spend a minute in consideration of your life and its meaning. You'll know you're on the right track if you do.
